Destiny of Dreams

Desires, hopes, wishes, needs, dreams, searches, quests, curiosity and many more words make up synonymous meaning to life. They come in stages and leave a mark. Each mark creates another hope. They grow, they build and they refurbish, but still they do exist at different levels. They create a harmonic imbalance in your mind and lets you believe that there\’s something more to life than just being ME. Eventually, you lurk to get back to the balance.

After a very rough day and total exasperation, I managed to get to bed early. Pleasantly moving in deep sleep, I dreamt of what I always had dreamed of. I was standing desperately at the conveyer belt waiting to get my baggage. I couldnt wait a second more to get out of the airport and be with those whom I always wanted to be with. I knew, there were eyes, deperately watching and waiting outside to get the first glance at me. Finally, I walked out of the airport with my stero-typical huge smile and eyes curiously anticipating some familiar faces. And my journey began …

Moving through scorching heat, shady neighbourhoods and unconditioned roads .. I still felt I was back home – a place where I belong to. Nothing and noone had changed except for the obvious physical differences. But the better part to realize was, they found me no different than what I used to be. It made me believe that I had missed nothing in these years and everything was the same. The only thing that had possibly changed was my love and understanding towards them. I felt more connected than ever before. Probably the distance is what makes one closer.

29 days – thats about 700 hrs of powerfull life force. Each moment felt precious and worth the memory. I , for the first time, felt the need to create days with extended hours – 24 weren\’t enough. Each and every passing day the marginal satisfaction was surpassing huge waves.

I did everything – long drives and wrong drives. Eating and repeating.. dancing and glancing.. … morning nashta to late night pasta.. birthdays, parties, gathering, gaming, laughing, screaming, singing, nautanki, fighting, mocking, teasing, pranks ………….. Ahh !

Now and again, I stand at at the conveyer belt. Things were different now. My eyes repeatedly turned back to see if I could see the same curious eyes, even a glance. But theirs were now wet and so were mine !…. And a little part of my journey was going to end.

Living and believing has something in common or else I wouldnt have had done both. Gone days wont come back, but I know.. something that would for sure would be ME.. I WOULD BE BACK ! With this new thought and a smile on face, I jumped back in reality with the some spiced up excitement to life with new hopes to chase !

Thanks to everone who made my dream worth while. Probably they wont ever know what they meant to me.

Bless all

India Poised ?

India: A country with rising economy, creating promised hopes, striving youth and triumph of trust
India: A country with lots of dismays and illusions, myths and manifestations struggles and giggles

Poised: marked by balance or equilibrium and readiness for action; in full control

I always believed, defining India is impossible. I love India for what it is rather than what it isn\’t. Times of India is on a new mission to market the Brand India. Motive is to energize and pump-up the resting youthful souls and vigorize the success movement. The whole aura of the campaign seems to be done with honesty and I feel it has charmed quite well. The campaign paves even a greater pace when an icon like Amitabh Bachchan comes right in front of you and talks directly into your heart with his sheer ravishing resonant voice. It just makes you feel – THATS IT! India is the world I have always been looking for. Even the world outside India now believes that the world inside India has unleashed its powers. \”India is poised\”

But somehow I feel cheated. Thanks to Times of India for making me hear what I always wanted to hear. Marketing strategies are no different, the product marketed here is now a COUNTRY. A part of me wanted to listen to more of it. Why not ? It had my favorite personalities of all time, Amitabh Bachchan, who was convincing me that Superpower India is REAL. The anthem talks about the existance of Bullish economy as well as the derogatorily stubborn cash flow. It conveys precisely that even though there are unsuccessfull attempts, victory seems to be just few miles away. While the other part of me is still skeptic and unconvinced, not being a pessimist; but it questions its credibility to lure truth. Do we really need this NOW ? Isn\’t it too early?

The Fast Facts:

It is the daring of India which had its economy growing at 9.2 percent as latest count. It is an India which has actually reduced the number of absolute poor — that is, living on less than a dollar a day — by 120 million in about a decade to around 260 million now. It is an India which, is believed likely to surpass the US economy in size in fifty years to become the world’s second largest economy after China

Concurrently, education is a key area where we are inadequate in performance, despite the full blown hype about the IITs and IIMs being among the world’s best. Not only is primary education in a major mess, our universities figure nowhere in the top league of the world’s institutions of higher learning. Our roads, ports and power systems have a long way to go before they are truly supportive of growth instead of being hindrances. And our public services, which need radical reform, continues to plunge down because no one in the educated middle and upper classes actually depend on them. The poor take the hit.

India may have the smartest Prime Minister and over qualified President to sustain the wisely engineered progress. But still the inflation has rose significantly to encourage domestic instability. Rising cases of debted farmers commiting suicide, earning teenagers disowning their parents; girls raped by police and citizens raped by deceitful media are yet not still under consideration. With the further welcoming of Giants like Reliance and Walmart into Indian retail market it can be expected to break the spines of millions of other small scale business owners. Any plans doctored for their stability so far ?

Words flowing from deep-rooted sesitivity of the poet, Masterly rendered by the born actor; in his deep, resonant voice is definitely creating the precise impact. But these sights dampen my spirit. We are proud of our achievements but are we doing enough as citizens to lessen this disparity?

India may be poised, but I want my India to be Independently Stabilized and not a divided India.

Sentinel to Cellphone Cancer

Anthony Grant, one of my friendly ex-employees (and mentor to me) is quite an enthusiastic person and not to forget a brilliant brain with friendly smile. I was shocked to know that he is figting BRAIN CANCER. Initially it started, a couple of months back, as short term head aches, which were ignored initially. Later on, he found that there was a pattern to these head aches. Diagnosis and test results showed that he had 7cm x 7cm x 5 cm tumour. Doctors declared it as 3rd GRADE. (on the fence). He has been a fighter and I am sure he would kick that \”bastard\” out of his head and flush it BIG TIME, my prayers are all for him.

Here are few of his doctor\’s recommendation:

  •  Avoid cell phones if possible, use HOME PHONE (not even chordless).
  •  Bluetooth helps, but there have been cases reported, so avoid that too ! (SHOCKED !)
  •  Heat your food on stove rather than Microwave
  •  Do not use plastic/foam containers while heating food in microwave – use glassware (CORELLE)
  •  Do not use plastic wrap over the glassware while in microwave
  •  Do not stand in front of a microwave when in use
  •  Advice your barber to use scissors instead of machine !
  •  many more ..

Recently I have been doing a little bit research on cellphone usage and its effects on brain cancer. (GOVERNMENT DENIES KNOWLEDGE ! )

Next few links SHOULD alarm you and please for your own sake, READ THEM !

Wiki site >

Read the book review by Adam F. Jewell (might need to scroll down a bit) : (Click: source

Forget the technical part, havent you felt it ?
– No privacy (people trying to sneak into your life details)
– Anytime, Everytime (always expect call)
– Infiltrating your deserving space and freedom (calls at wrong time)
– Couldn\’t justify the time with friends and family (getting those hey-whats-up-i-m-bored calls) – Disrespecting yourself (relying on it more than ourselves)

5 months back, soon after my birthday, I had decieded and I have successfully reduced my cell phone usage to almost more than half. Back then, I used to be almost found holding that little piece of electronic stuck near my ears – talking. I have loads of pictures (accidentaly taken) which un-knowingly has that typical \”busy talking\” pose. I had subscribed to the cell service that gave me maximum free airtime minutes than competitors and I was still falling short. At the end of every month, I had to drag myself to control to not go beyond my financial limits, ofcourse, nights and weekends were always nice to cover up. But it became quite a routine and to be honest, I was annoyed then. Now I can very gladly say that I have been rehabilitated. My phone calls have reduced (and so my bills) ! I hardly use my allocated monthly minutes and unless important, I don\’t use it much in nights and weekends either. A success story ! Believe me its not difficult, if I can do it, you guys can surely do it with ease.

Better not rely on scientific research that denied cancer and tobacco relationship untill the tobacco lobby had pumped well into the system !

Satire: SO-WHAT , if 2006 was bad ?

Saddam, once a King of a regim is no longer alive. People say he is dead, I say he is alive more than ever he lived. Most of them would reticent about the whole issue but who really wants to talk about it anyways? A person lives and dies, who cares? Its better to be impassive about certain things rather than debating the derogated news lines. On a fresher side, death to Saddam probably gave lots of challenged minds a new direction. So-What, if some think its end of terrorism (gimme a break) while few have forgotten Laden (or his terror). I would say thats a good start for 2007.

For India its again a time to celebrate. Well our 4 PSLV\’s just worked out fine ! Thats a manifestation of triumph ! So-What, if our N-deal would not be of our best interest, out scientists are doing good and are motivated anyhow isnt it ?

Iran and N.Korea have declared themselves as Nuclear states (unofficially). Wow ! Thats what I call is balance of powers. One nation can not have all the powers and force other countries to be deprived of it ! So-What, if the nuclear technology was strategically \”foreign\” funded. It was bound to happen and I am glad it happened now. If it were have happened before or after than now, I believe, would still be the same – glad !

Gujarat\’s growth rate is now 10.2% ! Its emerging as India\’s most productive (or vibrant) state. Now thats unfair ! Oh com\’on… no foreign investors or MNC\’s have ever heard of any of the IT cities in Gujarat. So-What, if the small scale industries are growing or So-What, if infra in remote Gujarat getting better (24hrs uninterrupted electricity to 18,065 villages in Gujarat). Narendra Modi should be accused of such humoungus crime against nation and sent to Karnataka instead, well Its only Banglore err.. Bengaluru that should define Indian economy isnt it ? Crapp !

Indian telecom industry has been a great help. 15% of the population (roughly 140m) is now using cell phones. While there are only 8% (roughly 75m) internet users. So-What, if the telecom has created more entrepreneurs and bridged the rural-urban gaps, its only contributing 0.6% (not sure) of GDP ! Thats disgusting ! Shouldnt it be banned from progressing ? So-What, if, the vast majority of Indians will access internet for the first time via cell phones and India will be among the first countries to have such huge cell-net. The point it, India needs more IT and not Telecom, isnt it suppose to be the trend ? Digitally divided INDIA Huh !

Ha ha, Satires are intersting So-What, if some would just take them in wrong sense. Have a mint 2007 !

Pun Elevated !

The best part of my job is using the elevator – a machine with great gravity. Mostly its funny but sometimes goes beyond . Here are few best ramified generic scenes I mostly run into.

Scene#1: Me and MY Boss

-door closes-
Boss: Hey.. how are you ?
Me: Good morning..! m fine, thank you.. how are you?
Boss: M good.. did you see the weather ? Its getting cold out isnt it ?
Me: Yeahh thats little bit too much for me i guess. I just wish to be somewhere in south ha ha .. !
Boss: ha ha.. i wish it too, but thats michigan !
-door opens-
Me to myself: (Thank god)

This scene happens almost everytime I meet him. Among very few things common between me and my Boss is Michigan Weather, Hectic Days and Weekend plans and apparently these are the only 3 things we talked since last 2 yrs !! Infact I can just close my eyes and and pop in my headphone and still go through the complete conversation. Its that monotonous.

Scene#2: ME and Afro-American

I get in
-door closes-
Afro: Hey waddup buddy. ?
Me: Aa… um Nothing much.. how about you ? (Phew..)
Afro: m just %^&#$%&# .. don kno no wha to tel (^&^*%*# itS bee layk aa#$%^tas d\’in gonna #$#^&*&^%$!,,,, HA HA HA .. !
Me: (I didnt get anything out of that conversation but still) HA HA HA
-door opens-
Me: (suffocated and thanking god)
Afro: Hav a goo\’van mei !
Me: (after like 30 secs).. You too ! () [wiping off the sweat and start walking away]

The moment I see him coming in MY ELEVATOR (somehow I just owned one), I start praying – plz for God sake close this damn door. Not that I discriminate or hate them neither am I scared. But its just that I dont get what they are saying. I am sure they speak some kind of english … but I feel like a stupid, idiot staring like a dumb-deaf and mentally challenged kid – trying to figure out from lip movements – catching few words here and there, trying to re-construct/ re-arrange them in my own sentence and understand whatever that line meant and think 100 times before answering back ! (thats a bit too much of mind storming exercise as a morning start) I certainly dont want to mess with them.

Scene#3: Me and some UNFAMILIAR DESI

I get in
Another DESI gets in..

– door closes-

I smile at him, and he manages to smile back to me somehow with great efforts and now he tries to show that he is real busy/important coz\’ his $5 made-in-china cellphone just intecepted an intergalactic signal. Now an extremely uncomfortable situation, where both parties are desperately trying to avoid eye-contact and are uneasily waiting for the tension-filled ride to end. By the time the ride ends, I would have managed to memorize the safety instructions on the side of the lift, while other DESI would have managed to type out an very important imaginary SMS (or SOS) to a supernatural friend living somewhere on the Planet Zoltan some few lightyears away to save the Earth.

-door opens –

M on my way and he is on his.

I dont know why we do this, but the fact remains that we do. If you meet a non-Indian in the elevator, you would smile and say hello, but if you meet a fellow Indian, some would pretend as if the other person does not exist. It actually takes 2 months of bumping into each other casually, before ignorance led to eye contact, eye contact led to smiles, smiles led to raised eyebrows, raised eyebrows led to short heys, heys led to more pleasant hellos, and hellos finally led to a conversation. Why ? You are like miles and months away from your land and still this attitude ? Things need to be changed desperately ..

Scene#4 : What do you get when you put 2 Gujjus/Teluguites/Punjabi/Hindi/…. together?

Ha ha.. I just wish !

god_inside_you: Seek not to find who you are, but determine who you want to be ! Stop looking for a purpose as to why you are here. Create it. Luck and co-incidence are some lame words that makes you reckon your inablity to act apt.

shahnirav_2000: what is the phil..
god_inside_you: Son, Develop a trust in yourself. All your answers are in you. Look inside.

Reversed Illusion

The world seems too big for the little piece we craved for. Felt good when I found that I was just a \”yellow line\” away from my HOME !

Finally found my house on the so called big world. Indeed, Thomas Friedman wasn\’t drunk when he wrote \”The world is Flat\”.

Your next  hour will be gone here –> check it out if your home is listed, if not add it !

And now plz pray for all those millions of innocent Turkeys  slaughtered  mercilessly.

Leaving Home

After that little blog of mine \”Lost in Transition\”, many of you have compelled me to re-think over the choice of songs I am into. Its a wildly driven paradox ; when I am with my folks I never have  had played/appreciated these so-called-lounge genre\’. And probably thats the reason you guys couldnt comply with the sudden but subtle change. lol… A theory again ! But thanks for all your comments.

I am right now plugged into (its not best as Khamaj but it certainly appeals me)
Song: Leaving Home
Album: Kandisa
Band:– Indian Oceans –

Its a hymn and has been performed by the Indian Ocean (Black Friday fame). Kandisa was a great album and had more good music especially with their \”Kandisa\” and \”Ma Reva\”. There is something about Indian Ocean’s music that touches a chord somewhere within. Its a mix of rock and classical, drums and sitar, tabla and guitar, or Sanskrit (?assumed) all take equal preference. But I must admit that Kandisa is among those few albums that doesnt seem to be forced or pretentious. There is this.. great amount of soul enriching quality to it.. complete off-track to the present music scenario in India.

During the college days me and my friends played \”Kandisa\” almost 50 times a day at hostel room (inspired by Annual Function\’s Fashion show  ), but that wasn\’t strange – we had only few cassettes left with us (all other were lost/donated/destroyed.. ). Call it a compulsion but whatever that was, it was fun to listen to same song no-matter-what-time of day and night and bug your friends by singing (?yelling) them loud.. ! Fun were those times, but probably I never noticed this song ;  infact I never had to. I could figure out the meanings of lyrics Ma Reva and Kandisa so needless to say, this \”leaving home\” went overshadowed. But now when I re-think this one is far better song then the other tracks of Kandisa.

For those who dont (*want to*) understand Hindi, they might find this one easier and soothing. Its just a well coordinated fusion of strings and percussions (my fav). Surprizingly, after a little bit of research on this song I found this song description –

\”The concept dwells on the Pastoral Myth revisited. There is no golden past, yet we seek it ultimately. We want to leave home, and then, one day, we wish to return. But we can never go back to the same. Because, home has changed, and in many ways, so have we.\”

So true and wonderful, isnt it ?

Well, this would probably be my last blog on songs.. I need to get back on controversies ASAP ! (My reputation: My \”friend\” (?name protected) forwarded me a nice song and asked me to write a blog on it !! ha ha.. as if I earn my bread from songs )

Percussion lovers – Digg it ! (Recommend you to use your \’better quality\’ headphones, set your WMP to – \”techno\” and turn ON your SRS WOW and adjust the slider for crisp sharp tabla beats )

Download: Leaving Home (Nirav Edit) (click mp3)
[Note: I had edited the mp3 files and cut some vocal parts of song to sound better )

And Saddam gets The Death Sentence

\”What ?? Really ? I dont believe it ! \” – These reactions might sound hillarious.

As if no one knew about the death sentence. Its funny coz the complete American media was jammed pack, creating an unnecessary anxiety among the viewers about the whole SAddam Trial\’s last verdict.

What do you expect after Saddam\’s Raging terror in court, Saddam and Party Quiting almost 50% of the court proceedings, changing 3 Judges, killing 7 plaintiff lawyers , a dozen witnesses who dramatically didnt show up to testify and the remaining few of the witnesses used curtains to give their testimony with voice re-modulation !

Wow what a novel court room it might be. The complete Saddam Trial sounded like reading a John Grisham\’s new reading.

Well but who cared if Saddam lived or died ? Does it really matters ? I won\’t be surprized if there is one more dramatic turn in the whole scene if Human Rights people might just show up to save Saddam.

Lets see Saddam\’s next move for his fight for life .
